THE MUSIC OF FEI CHIAO Fei Chiao, an award-winning composer in China, is a member and former board director of China's Musicians' Association, and former music director of Guangdong Province Song & Dance Troupe. He began his career as a tenor soloist and for the last 60 years, has focussed on composition, creating more than 200 works, including many well-known pieces such as The Moon Light, and Early Spring in the Mountains. After retirement, he came to the U.S. and co-founded the Friendship Chorus, receiving the “Honorable Citizen" award from the Mayor of Monterey Park for his involvement in community cultural affairs. In 2001, he founded the “3 Chiao Tenors” with his sons Ping Chiao and James Chiao. They successfully held The 3 Chiao Tenors Concert in LA in 2005, and in Beijing in 2008 to celebrate the Olympics. Tonight's concert is comprised entirely of Fei Chiao’s original music and includes instrumental solo, vocal solo, chorus and orchestral works performed by Spring Thunder Chinese Music Orchestra, LA Chinese Musicians Ensemble Chorus, The Friendship Chorus, LA Chinese Symphony Orchestra, and the 3 Chiao Tenors.
