Los Angeles Theatre Organ Society presents THE CAMERAMAN 1928 | 69m | BW | USA | Slapstick, Romantic Comedy Clark Wilson provides live musical accompaniment to this Buster Keaton silent movie classic on the Playhouse's beautifully restored Wurlitzer Theatre Organ. After becoming infatuated with a pretty office worker for MGM Newsreels, Buster trades in his tintype operation for a movie camera and sets out to impress the girl (and MGM) with his work. Directed by Edward Sedgwick and Buster Keaton, the film was described in the New York Times by critic Mordaunt Hall, as "filled with guffaws and grins, the sort of thing with many original and adroitly worked-out gags." The Cameraman is still popular today and is number 353 on "They Shoot Pictures Don't They?" 1,000 Greatest Movies of All Time and was added to the National Film Registry in 2005 as being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." Clark Wilson began his musical training aged 9, and has played the organ professionally for many years, recording 6 albums, heading his own pipe organ business, assisting with the installation of the worlds largest theatre organ and over 65 other theatre organs. He is the only person ever to receive both the Technician of the Year and Organist of the Year awards from the American Theatre Organ Society. SUN, MAY 9, 2.30PM Tickets & Info: 1-888-529-6722 |
